That 70's Show

Anna Sui paid tribute to the seventies with her SS15 collection allowing the freedom of that era shine through with the flowing, sheer materials. The theme is constantly shown throughout with the flare in the pants, the sheerness of the material and the lack of structure and tailoring in the garments. Representing the free, playful spirits. The metallic detailing adds a touch of modernity to the collection, making old styles new and current trends. The floral motifs and neutral colour palette embraces the hippies way of life, appreciating everything around us that is natural. The hairstyles are unruly and untouched, allowing them to flow parallel to the clothes the model is wearing. The gender roles are switched, showing the versatility of the era. Men are wearing less structured clothes, including flares in their trousers, whereas the woman's outfit in the couple is more structured, showing off the body.

Denim is a key material used in the collection with double denim being a big favourite. Denim suits, jumpsuits and high-rise denim flared pants, making it a staple for all wardrobes and styles.

The mix and match printed ensembles may have some resemblance to your grandparents house and the interior is all over the place. Not necessarily a bad thing when done right - but that is a hard thing to achieve. However, Anna Sui has managed to pull it out of the bag and is making me what the add more statement prints to my everyday wardrobe.

My favourite look from the collection has to be the ruby red cut out jumpsuit which is a staple, day to night piece. Comfortable for a girls day out or a picnic then perfect for grooving on the dancefloor at your favourite club.

This has confirmed that next summer will be the summer of love, glitter, freedom and flares!
