My Dad recently suggested the idea of redecorating the bathroom and said that I can help re-design it. I have always been obsessed with interior design and architecture. My childhood dream was to become an architect and being able to create something that shelter a family and provide an area filled with many wonderful, priceless moments and memories. Maybe one day I will be able to create this for myself - a la Grand Design style - and live out my childhood dream at least once.
Anyway back to the bathroom. As soon as my Dad suggested this to me an image of what I vision the bathroom to look like popped straight into my head as my imagination went wild.
I like fresh, vibrant, clean aesthetics. Very minimal. This is what me and my Dad designed in the living room when it was redecorated a couple of years ago. Although, my vision for the bathroom follows the same aesthetic, I want some maximalism thrown into the mix.
With my Instagram feed being filled up with beautiful imagery of Greece and in particular the breathtaking island of Mykonos it has drawn my attention of the combination of the purest colours of white and deep ocean blues. Those two colours together create a fresh, clean vibe which is something you aspire to in the bathroom. I intend to create this feeling with the use of patterned tiles, taking inspiration from the mis-match shapes of roman mosaics, but making something so ancient and traditional, modern and fresh just by the use of these two colours previously mentioned. When walking into this small room it'd be like a fresh of air with old, traditional culture mixed in with it. This will be one feature wall with the rest of the walls being the purest white tiles, they'll glisten when the sun shines on them just like the sea does.
